What is the Outback Bowl?

The Outback Bowl is a New Year's college football bowl game played in Tampa, Florida, matching teams from the SEC and Big Ten Conference (3rd pick from each). The Outback Bowl was formerly named the Hall of Fame Bowl from Dec. 1986 - Jan. 1995. Outback Steakhouse became the title/name sponsor in April 1995.

The game is a culmination of a week-long schedule of events throughout the Tampa Bay area highlighted by a Beach Day in Clearwater and a New Year's Eve Parade & Fireworks Show in Ybor City.

Auburn University Tigers to Meet Northwestern University Wildcats

Outback Bowl officials have invited the Auburn University Tigers to face the Northwestern University Wildcats in Tampa on January 1, 2010.

The Auburn Tigers and Northwestern Wildcats will square-off for the first time in history in the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day in Tampa, FL. The Tigers will return to the bowl for the first time in 14 years while this will be the Wildcats first appearance in the bowl. The Tigers feature one of the top offenses in the SEC and the Wildcats boast one of the most successful offenses in the Big Ten.

The Outback Bowl is celebrating its 24th year and will kickoff at 11 A.M. (ET) on January 1st in Raymond James Stadium. Tickets to the Outback Bowl are available at Ticketmaster outlets throughout Florida, via phone at 1-800-745-3000 and online at www.Ticketmaster.com.
